Lourdes Negrón-McDaniel works for the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (CCBMRDD) in the capacities of Developmental Specialist, Internal Diversity Trainer, and chair for the internal Hispanic Committee. Lourdes has provided services and supports to individuals with disabilities in various capacities, with the most current position focused on infants and toddlers and early intervention services. This successful outreach grew to include all age groups in need of developmental services and supports.
Lourdes is very active in community issues and has participated in numerous projects ranging from childhood immunizations, early literacy, education, fatherhood initiatives, youth development initiatives, immigration, diversity awareness and others. Lourdes represents the Board in the Hispanic Alliance Inc., and currently serves as the coordinator for this organization. Additionally, Lourdes continues to train both internally and externally along issues relating to diversity, disability, and communication issues, as well as other capacity building and strategic planning processes. Training topics of particular interest to Lourdes include communicating across differences, collaborative conflict management, disability as a dimension of diversity, racial identity development, and social justice issues.
Lourdes received a B.A. in Social Work from the University of Toledo, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State University, and an M.A. in Psychology with a specialization in Diversity Management from Cleveland State University.
